Edinburgh
I studied
on the (then exclusive) M.A. Fine Art Honours degree course at
Edinburgh University in conjunction with Edinburgh College of Art and specialised in drawing and sculpture.
Esteemed tutors
included George Mancini, Bill Scott, William Brotherstone and Vincent
Butler.
Sculpture
When I moved
to Cambridge I developed my sculpture and worked on portrait and figure
commissions such as Classical Figures for the Crowne Plaza and portrait of
Professor Muriel Bradbrook for Girton College.
Figurative
Watercolour
More
recently I
have concentrated on drawing and painting. I like to achieve
something that is glimpsed, not quite seen, elusive, melancholic or
metaphysical. Working in watercolour and
mixed media I aim to capture a fleeting moment of
observation with bold contrasts of light and dark. Think of bright
sunlight and deep dark shadows.
Classes
I
seem always to have been teaching, even when I was at University.
I was a tutor at Cambridge Arts and Sciences (CATS Cambridge) for many years when the College
specialised in Art education under the inspirational founding Principal, Elizabeth Armstrong.
I currently
run a series of popular life drawing classes which draws in practising artists
and designers and those with a more general interest. More

Life Drawing.
Exhibitions
I
have exhibited work with Pamela Barrell at the Conservatory Gallery in
Cambridge and take part in group exhibitions at the Albany Gallery in
Cardiff. Annually I open my studio to the public as part of the Cambridge Open Studios.
